Angela Peters, a 56-year-old Australian mother of five and grandmother of 12, recently shared how she welcomed twin girls with her Nigerian husband, Bright, who is 17 years her junior.

Speaking to The Sun UK, Peters explained they met in 2020 through a dating app—initially, she had been chatting with Bright’s older brother, Emeka, who lived in Senegal. After Emeka shared a family photo, Peters noticed Bright and felt an instant connection.

“It felt like a thunderbolt—I just knew he was the one,” she recalled.

At the time, Bright was a cook in South Africa, and Peters was living in Australia. After nine months of talking, she flew to Nigeria in February 2021. The couple married nine days later in a small civil ceremony in Lagos.

“My kids were shocked when I told them, but I knew they’d come around once they met him,” she said.

Peters reflected on her past, saying raising her children brought her joy, but her marriage had left her unfulfilled. After divorcing in 2019 at age 51, she found single life both freeing and daunting. While she wanted to be married again, she hadn’t expected to have more children.

However, seeing Bright’s strong desire to be a father made her reconsider. Though she was in perimenopause and told him pregnancy wasn’t likely, Bright confidently said they’d one day have twin daughters. Peters laughed it off at the time.

Concerned he might miss out on fatherhood, she explored IVF but was disheartened to learn Australia’s age limit is 52. She even asked her daughters about surrogacy, but they declined. At one point, she considered encouraging Bright to have a child with someone else.

Eventually, she found IVF options in Nigeria, where doctors were willing to help despite her age.
