The Nigerian High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, Ambassador Tunji Sarafa Isola has disclosed that over 24, 000 Nigerian Passports have been processed by the Nigerian High Commission in the UK in the last Three Months.
Amb. Isola who disclosed this when the Chairman/CEO, Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), Hon Abike Dabiri-Erewa paid him a Courtesy visit in London, explained that the Nigerian Mission has cleared a backlog of 17,000 applications adding that the Mission now posts processed passports to applicants rather than the previous process of coming back to collect their passports.
Presenting a Copy of the recently ratified and adopted National Diaspora Policy to the High Commissioner, NiDCOM Chairman/CEO Hon Dabiri-Erewa commended the innovations as it relates to the issuance of passports, stressing that it should be a norm, not an aberration.
Our correspondent reports that the Nigerian High Commissioner advised Nigerians to apply for renewal, six months before the expiration of their passports which will now have a ten-year Validity.
