Taylor Swift and Calvin Harris have become the highest paid celebrity couple, overtaking Beyonce and Jay Z. The relatively new romance of Swift with her superstar DJ boyfriend see them top this year's Forbes list; with a combined income of $146m (£92m). Queen Bey and her rapper husband slip down to second place with earnings of $100m (£70m), the power couple have been number one on the list since 2013.
Taylor Swift's fortune is partly down to her loyal pop music fan base and power to influence the music industry. She recently forced Apple to pay musicians royalties during the free trial period of its new streaming service. The 25-year-old has since agreed a deal to let Apple Music be the only service to stream album 1989. Both Swift and her Scottish born other half also have big endorsement deals. With careers that only seem to be getting bigger, these two may be setting themselves up for a longstanding place at the top of this list, that is if they stay together.
Jay Z and Beyonce, who have recently celebrated their seven year wedding anniversary, attribute some of their earnings to their joint On the Run tour. It was the eighth highest grossing tour in 2014, with One Direction being number one. Both also have plenty of business ventures. Jay Z has his entertainment company, Roc Nation, as well as a champagne and cognac brand. Beyonce has her own fragrance line and endorsements with other major brands. At three on the list of high earning celebrity couples are the country superstars Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton, who are worth $57m (£36m). They have both had successful tours in the last 12 months. Shelton is also part of The Voice in the US. Lambert has also had her biggest year yet, winning multiple Academy of Country Music Awards, including best female vocalist, plus song and album of the year for her platinum LP. The full Forbes Celebrity 100 list, is due to be released on Monday 29 June.
