10 years ago this month, Spotify launched. To celebrate, the streaming giant shared a decade of data, revealing their most-streamed artists, songs, and albums of all time in addition to glimpses of what was most popular every year they have been active.
The most-streamed artists of all-time contains few surprises. Drake is on top, followed by Ed Sheeran, Eminem, and the Weeknd. While seeing names like Coldplay, Calvin Harris, and Ariana Grande might initially be shocking, a reconsideration of the sheer size of their hits or the rabidity of their fan base helps it all make sense.
Justin Bieber is represented on the most-streamed songs list more than any other artist, but none of his songs crack the top 5. Ed Sheeran’s “Shape of You” tops the list, followed by Drake’s “One Dance,” the Chainsmokers’ “Closer,” and Post Malone’s “Rockstar.”
Ed Sheeran, Drake, Post Malone, and the Weeknd have two albums each on the list of most-streamed albums. Justin Bieber and Kendrick Lamar both have one album on the list. Bieber’s Purpose is the second-most streamed album of all-time behind Sheeran’s ÷.
