fbpx Sequel For White Chicks? I'm Up For it - Marlon Wayans | The Beat 99.9 FM

One of the creators of the movie, White Chicks, has told Newsbeat he's in favour of making a sequel. "I would do it if my brothers wanted to do it. We know the audience wants it so I'm down. You've got to call Shawn or Keenan. Or tweet them. It's them you've got to bother. I've asked but they ain't listening. I've said my piece,"  Marlon Wayans said. The original film, released in 2004, sees two black FBI agents transformed into two white sisters in order to go undercover. Wayans, 43, came up with the characters and plotline with his brothers Shawn and Keenan Wayans. During it's initial release, White Chicks was largely panned by critics. Movie review site Metacritic described the storyline as preposterous while Rotten Tomatoes gave the film a 15% rating. Slowly though, the film has become a cult classic thanks to its larger than life characters.

Marlon Wayans is also the man responsible for the Scary Movie franchise and the A Haunted House films. We spoke to him during a visit to the UK to promote his latest film, Fifty Shades of Black. The film is a parody of the popular book-turned-film Fifty Shades of Grey by author EL James. Wayans says it's not always easy to get the green light to make films that often poke fun at the original. "I don't need permission but the lawyers make us go through a lot of checks before we start to make these movies. It was just the book. As I was reading it, I was like 'you got to be something nasty to write this.' So I had to make a movie based on how I would interpret the things EL was writing about," he adds. Fifty Shades of Black also sees Marlon Wayans poke fun at the character Magic Mike from the film of the same name starring Channing Tatum.

Marlon says having to strip down to his underwear took a lot of bravery. "It took a lot of work. I have to compliment Channing because until I filmed that scene I didn't know how hard something like that was. I don't think I want to be a stripper. Twerking is not something I'm naturally good at," he jokes.
