fbpx Manchester City Women Defeats Brondby To Reach Women’s Champions League Quarter Finals | The Beat 99.9 FM

The Manchester City women have made it to the WCL last eight owing to a draw in their last match against Danish side Brondby yesterday the 16th which ended in a 1-1 draw and an aggregate of 2-1.

 

The English league champions presented a resilient front as they dominated the pitch almost all through the match. After a 1-0 first leg lead, England striker Toni Duggan scored a brilliant swivel and shot goal in the 64th minute putting them ahead their opponents. The Brondby side came back with an equalizer as Nanna Christiansen skillfully got the ball to the back of the net moments later.

 

Mark Sampson, England’s boss took to twitter to congratulate the team on their victory tweeting “Congratulations @nickcush players, staff and @ManCityWomen fans thoroughly deserved qualification an excellent end to a fantastic 2016” . Manchester City Women will be joining the likes of FC Rosengard, Barcelona Fc, Lyon Feminine Effectif and Fortuna Hjorring as the only English team.
