President Mohammadu Buhari has approved all members of the National Youth Service Corps, to be enrolled in the National Health Insurance Scheme. The Director General of the NYSC, Brig-Gen. Suleiman Kazuaure made this known today while addressing the corps members at the Osun NYSC permanent orientation camp in Ede.

General Kazaure said he received a call that the president had approved the enrolment of all NYSC members into the NHIS programme. His said “Let me inform you, the president has approved the enrolment of all corps members into the National Health Insurance Scheme. “Infact I was impressed when they called me last night that very soon, they will finish with the whole process. I am sure that by next week, everything would be okay.” He also used the opportunity to advise and preach unity to the corps members, saying Nigerians must all live in unity. He told the corps members to be agents of change where ever they found themselves and that the programme is about integration of Nigeria, therefore asking the corps members to stay united as they work as a team during the course of the service year.

He specifically commended the State Cordinator of NYSC, Mr Emmanuel Attah for his personal intervention in renovating the camp and made it conducive without financial support from national headquarters. In his own remarks, Attah explained that it had not been easy keeping things working and running smoothly in the camp but because of the determination and staff support, they were able to make the camp conducive for the corps members.
