The Federal Government has approved the reopening of Federal Government owned tertiary institutions as well as colleges on Oct. 12th for continuation of academic activities.
The Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu who announced this today at a media briefing in Abuja said decision to reopen schools was sequel to review of covid-19 situation in Nigeria , given the fact that infection figures has been on steady decline.
He therefore warned schools to strictly adhere to covid-19 protocols, threatening that adequate sanctions await any school owner that does not comply with the safety guidelines which may result in outbreak of corona-virus in the school. Similarly, states and private schools owners are expected to work out modalities for the reopening of schools under their purview.
Our Correspondent, Raliat Adenekan reports that the Federal Ministry of Education on March 19, 2020, ordered the immediate closure of tertiary institutions, secondary as well as primary schools nationwide as part of measures to contain the spread of the pandemic in the country.
