fbpx Adele Accused of Plagiarism By Fans of Turkish Musician Ahmet Kaya | The Beat 99.9 FM

Even Adele does not seem immune to accusations of copying someone else's song it seems.  The singer's third album has sold millions of copies in Britain and the US, smashing records along the way. Around 800,000 copies of 25 were bought in its first week of release  the highest figure for a UK chart week. But some critics in Turkey think her track Million Years Ago is a bit too similar to an 80s song by an artist called Ahmet Kaya. The Turkish singer recorded Acilara Tutunmak (or Clinging to Pain) in 1985.

But social media users have accused Adele of stealing his music. he tweet reads "Adele has stolen a song from us". Kaya's wife Gulten Kaya has also weighed in telling a local newspaper it's unlikely the 27-year-old would do such a thing. "However, if she consciously did it, then it would be theft," she said. Why not make up your own mind... We've asked Adele's people for comment but haven't heard anything back yet.
